After 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3, Black plays the surprising 3...b5, the Gurgenidze Counterattack. This unorthodox move, named after Georgian grandmaster Bukhuti Gurgenidze, immediately challenges White's setup on the queenside.
